Commanders Palace has long been the dominant name in NOLA restaurants, so the opening of a new outpost of theirs – this one in the W French Quarter Hotel – will always cause a stir. It's quite a change from previous incarnation, Bacco, and the place feels slicker and more chic.
Chef Juan Carlos Gonzales has come up with a menu that is excitingly affordable, and casual diners will be rewarded for taking a chance on a hotel restaurant and venturing in. Oyster tacos, foie gras burgers and Cuban sandwiches are all presented in original ways, and the very reasonable prices and small plate selection mean you can delve deep into the menu. Couple this with the fantastic drinks menu being headed up by bartending bombshell Abigail Gullo and an impressive new interior and you’re left with almost no reasons not to check in here. |
